The W & R Fisheries Ltd. family has been involved in the fishery in Atlantic Canada all our lives.

PEI Coastline Shellfish is a PEI company whose mandate is to supply customers with the freshest shellfish found anywhere on the market.

We supply restaurants, retailers and consumers with PEI mussels, fresh oysters, quahogs and soft-shelled clams.

Our customers, some of whom we have been supplying for years, are all extremely satisfied with the level of freshness and customer service which we deliver in our products.

We are located in historic Georgetown PEI where the Three Rivers meet. We are very proud to be located in such a great community with such great people.

We were incorporated in 1980 while fishing for ground fish in the Gulf of St Lawrence. In the mid 80’s we diversified our business, becoming an independent buyer of ground fish and pelagic fish in Atlantic Canada.

We still operate as an independent fish buyer purchasing herring, mackerel, silversides as well as lobster bait for local seafood buyers.

Our present day owners operate our business with a hands-on approach. Wayne Chiasson, President, manages the daily operations and Randy Chiasson, Vice President supervises the processing plant. Jeffery Hebert manages the mussel leases.

In 1998, we bought our first 10 acre mussel lease and now we have 90 acres growing about 600,000 lbs annually. We are extremely proud of our history, what we are doing presently, and are excited about our future growth.

Our Processing Facility

In September 2015 we opened a new mussel processing plant in Georgetown P.E. I. This is one of the few new processing licenses to be issued on P.E.I. in the last 15 years.

Our plant is located on the Georgetown Port facility in the center of historic Three Rivers (Brudenell, Cardigan, Montague,) in Kings County. This river system produces some of the highest quality mussels on the Island. Our location is in the center of the richest soft-shell and bar clam beds in Atlantic Canada. Our clam diggers land their clams on the beach which is within a 5 minute walk of our receiving area. Our oysters and quahogs are relayed to our deep water lease which is within a 10 minute sail from the doors of our plant.

Having all of our mussel leases in this river system minimizes our environmental impact by eliminating the need to truck the product to the plant. Our mussels are landed to the plant door by boat.

Our plant is registered by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and is on the US Food And Drug Agency Shellfish Shippers List. We operate under HACCP Guidelines and follow a strict Quality Management Program. We are members of The P.E.I. Aquaculture Alliance. We grow our mussels in compliance with the PEI SHELLFISH AQUACULTURE ENVIRONMENTAL CODE OF PRACTICE AND ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY.
