The Distillery

Our distillery has been recognized as the first single malt whisky distillery in North America, and we’ve also produced the world’s first single malt whisky aged in ice wine barrels.

Our copper pot stills and time-tested traditions mean the whisky we produce is on par with the greatest single malts in Scotland.

Glenora is located in Nova Scotia, a province whose name literally translates to ‘New Scotland.’

Being a part of Nova Scotia’s heritage means that Cape Breton Island is one of very few places on Earth where Gaelic culture and language thrive.

As Scottish descendants we passionately keep the dearest aspects of our ancestor’s colourful culture alive.

On-site tours

Guided on-site distillery tours are available during season (mid-May to late October - please check season open and close dates)
9:00 am-5:00 pm daily - leaves on the hour
Approximate time: 20 minutes. Reservations for tours are not required for individuals. If you are looking for a group tour, please make an appointment in advance.
Adm. $7.00 per person, children free
Samples given at the end of tour (must be legal drinking age)

Backstage Pass

See our secrets and learn our history on a tour through our inn and distillery.

We’ll give you a private tour detailing our journey, our founder’s vision, the whisky’s production, and a backstage pass to the Whisky Warehouse where you’ll draw a sample directly from the barrel.

After experiencing the warehouse your host will bring you to the pub for a private tutored whisky tasting of various Glenora expressions.
